The Words You Use to Describe Your Family

The Words You Use to Describe Your Family

by Bill High

Ashley, Jessica, Nathan & Joseph. These are my four.

They’ve been joined by sons-in-law Ben and Phillip. And this year we’ve added another to our clan—Morgan—our first daughter-in-law. Ashley and Ben have added to the tribe with 3 grands: Clayton, Fayre and Ginny.

When you think of your own clan, what are the words you use to describe them?

I think about the words blessing, privilege, story, adventure, craftsmanship, pride. My heart swells when I think of them all.

Family is one of the great connections all over the world and in all of human history. In every era, from every walk of life, you’ll see the sentiment shared:

  • “I think family is key, and if you have love for family, then you have love for others—and you have unity as a people.” – Marlon Wayans
  • “The most important thing in the world is family and love.” – John Wooden
  • “For me, family always comes first; I would do anything to protect them.” – Mark Wahlberg
  • “Family and God—that is what’s important. Money, cars, those are things that come and go.” – Fabrice Muamba

What about you? What are your words describing family? What are your family quotes?
